ABS High Pressure Flexible Hose

MODEL

New Range Rover

DETAIL

The New Range Rover workshop manual issued in 1994 does not clearly identify the location and orientation of the ABS high pressure hose at the connection to the ABS pump. The feature which securely locates the hose in its correct orientation is a timing peg on the banjo connection which locates in a slot in the accumulator body casting. On early vehicles the timing peg may be too short to locate in the slot (by 4-5mm), but should be used as a pointer to ensure correct alignment with the slot in the accumulator body casting.

ACTION REQUIRED

The workshop manual should be updated with the amended drawing as shown. Vehicles should be inspected for correctly orientated hoses at the first routine opportunity. If hose orientation is incorrect, the hose should be inspected and replaced if damaged, if undamaged the hose should be repositioned.

PARTS INFORMATION

ANR 3322 Right hand drive ABS high pressure hose.

ANR3321 Left hand drive ABS high pressure hose.

PROCEDURE

ABS hose replacement - refer to the workshop manual section 70 pump and motor (service repair).

Hose relocation is as follows: Fully deplete accumulator pressure ( depress brake pedal fully 40-50 times with ignition off), loosen the high pressure hose banjo bolt, at the ABS pump end just enough to allow the banjo connection to be rotated to relocate the banjo timing peg in the slot.

NOTE: Early vehicles were fitted with a timing peg that was approximately 4-5mm too short to locate into the slot, therefore when repositioning the timing peg on early vehicles ensure it is aligned to the slot, and retained in this position when tightening the banjo connection nut, the system will automatically rebleed its self. Re-tighten the banjo bolt to 22-26 Nm.

Please amend workshop manual with new fitting process.
