AFFECTED RANGE:
All 98 MY within VIN range WA 376581 to WA380189
PROBLEM:
LOWER TAILGATE DIFFICULT TO OPEN
The customer complains that the tailgate release button requires 2 or more pushes to unlatch.
CAUSE:
The tailgate latch body retaining clip not holding, causing the latch interlock lever to stick.
ACTION:
Where a customer complaint of the above is confirmed, replace the tailgate latch with new part FQR100550 which incorporates more positive retention of the latch body.
Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 76.37.17 for the repair procedure noting the following:
Care should be taken to position the new • latch as far to the left as the mounting screws will allow to ensure synchronised operation of both lower tailgate latches.
Prior to refitting the lower tailgate trim • panel, check for simultaneous operation of all three latches with tailgate open and confirm that tailgate release operation is now satisfactory.
