LOWER TAILGATE DOES NOT RELEASE - ADJUSTMENT
The lower tailgate latch does not release when the release button is pressed.
CAUSE:
Poor setting of the lower tailgate centre latch.
ACTION:
Where a customer complains of difficulty in releasing the lower tailgate, reset the centre latch using the following procedure:
1. Remove lower tailgate board, (repair number 76.37.17 refers). 2. Loosen the two centre latch retaining bolts (arrowed in illustration) and retighten just sufficiently to allow the latch to move but to hold its position. 3. Close the lower tailgate to align the latch. 4. Taking care not to disturb position of the latch, tighten the two retaining bolts to a torque of 9Nm. 5. Before refitting the tailgate board, check for simultaneous operation of all three latches and confirm that tailgate release operation is now satisfactory.
