Lower Tailgate-Unbalanced Latching
MODEL AFFECTED VEHICLES
New Range Rover All derivatives upto LP 300900
DETAIL
With double latches on the lower tailgate there is a possibility when closing the tailgate for it to latch on one side only. This condition can be caused by an incorrectly set latch resulting in latching on one side of the tailgate only. Poor latch alignment can be identified by checking both sides of the tailgate after closing for simultaneous engagement of the latch.
ACTION REQUIRED
Check the latching of the lower tailgate prior to customer receipt of the vehicle following the procedure below.
PARTS INFORMATION
Not applicable.
PROCEDURE
1) With one hand in the centre of the lower tailgate, close using minimum force to enable one or both latches to engage. 2) If both latches engage simultaneously, no further action is required. 3) If only one latch engages, adjust the unlatched striker outboard in approximately 1 mm increments until both latches engage simultaneously. Ensure that the rear light cluster profile lines up with the rear wing cluster (within 2 mm maximum). 4) After setting the latches, if the rear light cluster profile is out of limits (2 mm maximum) adjust both strikers to compensate.
Latch bolts tighten to 7-10 Nm
