PROBLEM:
REAR CONSOLE ASHTRAY DIFFICULT TO CLOSE The customer complains that passengers experience difficulty in closing the rear console ashtray.
CAUSE:
The ashtray must be closed in a certain way to ensure a satisfactory shut. Do not replace the ashtray as replacement parts will be to the same specification as those fitted.
ACTION:
The customer must be made aware of the following information:
The design of the ashtray is such that it must be closed rapidly. This will ensure that the locking link within the mechanism will fall into the correct channel.
If too slow a speed is used, the locking link will fall into an incorrect position and the ashtray will not close completely. If this is the case, the ashtray must be allowed to open fully so that the linkage will re-set, before a second attempt to close is made.
PARTS INFORMATION:
Not applicable, issued for information purposes only.
WARRANTY CLAIMS: Normal Warranty Policy and Procedures apply.
