Battery Drain During Vehicle Storage

MODEL AFFECTED VEHICLES

New Range Rover All derivatives from LP 300190

DETAIL

To overcome vehicle starting difficulties after long periods of vehicle storage caused by the battery being in a low state of charge, the vehicle battery must be disconnected.

The effects of disconnecting the battery are as follows: a) Windows and sunroof will no longer be ‘set’, one touch operation and anti-trap will not be functional. b) Alarm handsets will no longer be synchronised. c) The radio cassette will require the security code re-entering.

The Customer Assurance and Vehicle Validation check sheet requires the above three items to be set-up prior to customer receipt.

ACTION REQUIRED

During long periods of storage disconnect the vehicle battery.

PROCEDURE

Battery disconnection:

If the alarm is set when the battery is disconnected, it will not be possible to disarm without the emergency key access code when the battery is re-connected. 2) Ensure the ignition is switched OFF . Failure to do this may result in faults being logged or damage occurring to the vehicles electronic control system. 3) Open bonnet, bonnet release is in drivers footwell. 4) Remove the battery cover (8mm flat bladed screwdriver) and place battery cover inside vehicle. 5) Release battery earth clamp (black cable) (13 mm open ended spanner) remove the clamp from the battery, ensure the clamp cannot touch the battery earth terminal. 6) Close bonnet.

NOTE: If the vehicle is to be locked, ONLY use the key in the drivers door lock. DO NOT use the alarm remote handset.
