This bulletin has been developed to address the major squeaks and rattle issues on New Range Rover vehicles. Each section will refer to the complaint, cause, action. The bulletin has been designed to bring to your attention all the previous bulletins on this subject, and also includes a number of new issues.

CAUSE ACTION

Squeak from Squeak from Check for minimum 1mm of Fascia. Windscreen Vin clearance all around Vin Plate. Plate making Safe Vin 314051. contact with the Windscreen. Fascia contacting Check for 2mm-3mm gap where ‘A’ Post. the base of the ‘A’ Post Finisher meets the side of the fascia. Safe Vin : 313080.

Fascia creaks. Tightness of 4 off upper fascia fixings Access to the fixings is attained underbonnet and necessitates the removal of the plenum and fresh air intake. Re-torque fixings to 30Nm-35Nm. Safe Vin 327756

Glove Box Rattle. Incorrectly set Check for freeplay in the glove latch. box lid in closed condition. Safe Vin 300900

Gear lever Rattle Gear knob Rattle is eliminated by light hand pressure on the lever. (Manual vibrating against Leather gasket introduced at the plastic sleeve. Vehicles). Vin 327124. Fit leather gasket, part no AWR5134 between the gear knob and the plastic sleeve.

CAUSE ACTION

Gear lever Rattle Poor bias loading Rattle is eliminated by light (Manual on lever. hand pressure on the lever. Vehicles). Adjust 1st/2nd plunger locknut inwards until all freeplay in lever is taken out. Adjust a further 1/8 of a turn to pre-load the lever. Safe Vin 314758

Seat Leather seat Check that creak can be Rattles/Creaks. covers creaking. eliminated by applying card between the front seat squab and cushion. If squeak is eliminated apply anti-squeak tape STC 3118K in position as shown on illustration. Applies to Vin range 308967 to 314039. Vehicles prior to Vin 308967 should have been addressed by Customer Reassurance Check. Door Creaks. Door casing Pushing the door casing against creaking against the door should eliminate the the door frame. creak.(clear debris)

Spare wheel rattle. Check for insufficient clamping load on spare wheel evident by any freeplay/movement between the clamp and wheel rim. Safe Vin : 321651.

Spare wheel cover Check for evidence of contact squeak. between the lower faces of the cover and the carpet retainer clips in the spare wheel well. Remove excess foam. Check for clearance between Exhaust Rattles. Exhaust heatshield the heatshield and front of the vibrating against exhaust silencer box. exhaust silencer Deflect heatshield away form box. the exhaust silencer box. Ensure exhaust is cold before undertaking this process. Safe Vin : 313830.

Water pump Squeak from water Increase idle speed above 1000 squeak-petrol pump seal at idle R.P.M to eliminate the noise. vehicles only. speed. Confirm by removing the serpentine belt. Water pump sealing was modified by the supplier(replace pump and gasket). Part number of pump STC1693. Part number of gasket ERR4077. Safe Vin : 305887.
