Fuel Fill-Blow Back

MODEL

New Range Rover

DETAIL

It has been brought to our attention through the product report system, that a number of customers are experiencing a blow back difficulty when refuelling there vehicles .(diesel or petrol), Investigations have shown the cause to be the fuel tank breather pipe, under the present process the breather pipe is supplied fitted onto the fuel filler and attached to the fuel tank on production. This can cause a twist in the breather pipe on assembly.

The process has been changed so that the breather pipe will be supplied on the fuel tank, and then fitted to the fuel filler neck on production, this process change will elevate the possibility of the breather pipe becoming twisted.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of fuel blow back when re-fuelling follow the process detailed below.

PARTS INFORMATION

ESR 2477 - Breather Hose

PROCEDURE

Refer to workshop manual section 19, filler neck assembly page 21,22 & fuel tank, pump and sender unit, page 22, 23 & 24.

Should any vehicles have a fuelability concern the fuel tank breather pipe should be replaced, and not the fuel tank or filler neck.

On replacing a fuel breather pipe ensure that the routing of the pipe is not obstructed, and there are no tight curves or kinks in the pipes.
