Fascia Rattle - Air Con Pipe Bracket

DETAIL

A number of reports have been received detailing an engine speed related noise/vibration that is emanating from the centre fascia/bulkhead area between 2000-2500rpm. This noise can be caused by the air conditioning pipe mounting bracket which is fitted to the underbonnet side of the bulkhead behind the N.V.H padding. It is possible that the plastic securing fixings will have relaxed causing the pipe bracket to rattle on the mounting studs.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of rattle from fascia, inspect for loose bracket fixings and carry out the procedure detailed below.

CYH 10001 - 2 off - Plastic push nuts

Sikaflex 221 - Sealer

BTR 6446 - Double pipe clip

PROCEDURE

1. Isolate pipes from air conditioning mounting to establish whether this is the cause of the noise/vibration by removing the white plastic double pipe clip and rubber mounting. 2. If noise is not apparent when vehicle is tested, remove the two plastic fixings that secure the air conditioning pipe bracket to the bulkhead. 3. Apply a covering of Sikaflex to the back face of the bracket (see illustration). 4. Refit bracket with two new plastic fixings CYH 10001 and torque to 1.5-2.0 Nm. 5. Refit air conditioning rubber mounting and double pipe clip BTR 6446. 6. Re-test vehicle to ensure rattle/vibration is not present.
