PROBLEM:
IN-CAR TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY The customer may complain of being overheated in cold conditions and to cold in hot conditions.
CAUSE:
The in-car temperature sensor is ventilated by a miniature fan, which draws air from inside the vehicle. The thrust bearing of the fan wears prematurely, causing the fan to become stiff or sluggish. As the starting torque of the motor is low the motor can sit in a stalled state. When the fan fails the sensor is not ventilated, so the fascia temperature is sensed instead of the in-car temperature.
ACTION:
Where a customer complaint of the above is confirmed, replace the temperature sensor with new part JTF000030. Refer to Workshop Manual, Air Conditioning, repair number 82.20.93 for repair procedure.
