PROBLEM:
INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF AIR CONDITIONING
Air conditioning operates intermittently with the handbook symbol illuminated on the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) message display.
TestBook diagnoses Fault Code 32 - ATC compressor clutch failure with open circuit or short circuit.
CAUSE:
Poor connection at connector C119 at the ATC compressor - arrowed in illustration.
In this situation the voltage at connector C244, pin 7 on the ATC unit will drop below 10 volts. This is insufficient to run the compressor.
ACTION:
Check connector C119 closely evidence of poor continuity, particularly between the male and female pins within the connector. Make good any sign of poor continuity. Check also to ensure that the crimping under the harness sheath on the compressor link lead (part no. AMR3916) has not deteriorated in any way.
The Electrical Troubleshooting Manual Sections K4 page 10, Z5 page 17 and Z6 page 41 will be useful when identifying components.
