Radio Remote Switches - Steering Wheel

A number of reports have been received through the technical help desk, which have identified faulty radio remote switches mounted on the steering wheel.

This has been found to be a supplier manufacturing concern, the cause of the problem is that the internal membrane of the switch making poor contact. The supplier has changed an inspection process to overcome this issue, and all switches are now checked for operation before being fitted into the steering wheel, the switches can be obtained from Unipart, and therefore it is not necessary to replace the complete steering wheel assembly.

ACTION REQUIRED

At pre-delivery inspection or upon customer complaint of the radio remote switch inoperative, replace the switch and not the steering wheel assembly.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 86 steering wheel mounted switches.

The remote switches are available from Unipart, it is not necessary to replace the steering wheel assembly.
