AFFECTED RANGE:
All vehicles in VIN range XA 410483 to YA 431506
PROBLEM:
OIL LEAK FROM REAR AXLE - BREATHER PIPE
CAUSE:
Pressure build up in rear axle due to a damaged breather pipe. On vehicles in the above VIN range, there is a possibility that a rear axle oil leak may be evident as a result of the axle breather pipe becoming trapped by the right hand rear air spring.
ACTION:
1. Confirm and rectify the source of oil leakage.
2. Inspect breather pipe FTC5133 for damage and replace if necessary.
3. Referring to illustration, pass cable tie NTC1154 through the tie slot in pipe clip NRC9246 and around axle tube. Secure cable tie approximately mid way between axle tube breather entry ‘A’ and the air spring mounting plate ‘B’ as shown.
4. Secure the breather hose into the new clip. Ensure that it is routed clear of the air spring, particularly when suspension ride height ‘Access’ mode is selected.
