SUBJECT Alarm Transmitter Intermittent Operation/Synchronisation

MODEL

New Range Rover

DETAIL

We have received a number of reports of alarm transmitters loosing synchronisation, if the alarm transmitter goes out synchronisation ie it will not operate the door locks or alarm system, then either the transmitter should be replaced, or the signal is being blocked by an external source. If the second transmitter is working ie it locks and unlocks the doors, then the original transmitter had lost synchronisation and will need to be replaced. If the second transmitter is not working, then signal blocking can be confirmed by driving the vehicle away from the location where the interference occurs without re-synchronisation, this can be done by first entering the EKA code (where available) and parking the vehicle in a different location, at this point re-try the transmitter to lock and unlock the vehicle, if the vehicle can now be locked and unlocked the transmitters have lost synchronisation and do not need to be replaced as the apparent loss of synchronisation may be due to an outside source of interference ie Radio/TV transmitters.

ACTION REQUIRED

Upon customer complaint of loss of synchronisation of the alarm remote the vehicle can be started by entering the EKA code (where available), then vehicle should be moved to a different location and re-checked as above before replacing the remote transmitters

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual for re-synchronisation process.

If a loss of synchronisation is experienced start the vehicle by entering the EKA code (where available) and then move the affected vehicle to a different location and re-check the remotes. Should the remotes work correctly then the vehicle may be affected by an outside source ie radio/TV transmitter.
