DETAIL

From the above Vin numbers (LP 301090 4.0 litre and LP 301048 4.6 litre), the single plate drive system for the automatic gearbox, was changed to a twin plate system to overcome some Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) issues.

This bulletin is to highlight the changes made to the system and to identify the part differences between the 4.6 litre and 4.0 litre derivatives.

ACTION REQUIRED

In the event of an Noise Vibration and Harshness issue with the automatic gearbox, refer to the Land Rover Technical help desk before under taking any work regarding the procedures detailed below.

PROCEDURE

Refer to the workshop manual section 44 for remove and refit of the automatic gearbox.

When re-fitting the gearbox ensure that the parts are fitted as follows

The thick spacer approximately 12mm should be fitted into the 4.0 litre vehicles only.

The thin spacer approximately 4mm should be fitted into the 4.6 litre vehicles only.

General arrangement of the Twin Plate Drive configuration 4.6 litre only.

On assembly the flexi drive plate must be fitted the correct way round, so that the holes in the flexi drive plate line up with the clearance holes in the starter ring plate to enable the torque converter bolt heads to pass through. (shown on illustration A opposite).
