Spare Wheel Cover Squeak
MODEL
New Range Rover
DETAIL
A number of reports have been received which indicate an audible squeak originating from the spare wheel cover area. Investigations have found that the spare wheel cover is resting on the 5 carpet retainers causing the squeak, the rubbing action also removes the paint from the 5 carpet retainers.
ACTION REQUIRED
Upon customer complaint, or during road test a squeak is heard from the spare wheel area, check the spare wheel cover to determine if the above condition is evident. Create a clearance between the load space cover base and the 5 carpet retainers, by following the process below.

PROCEDURE
1. Remove the spare wheel cover from the vehicle. 2. Mark out the five contact points between the base of the cover and the five retainers. 3. Cut out using a sharp knife or file removing excess foam, (approx 40mm) as shown on the illustration opposite. 4. This will create a clearance between the two surfaces. 5. Fit the spare wheel back into position.
