Ball Joint: Service and Repair

Special Service Tools
Removal
WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the front wheels and tires.
3. Release the LH suspension height sensor link.
CAUTION: Make sure the ball joint seal is not damaged. A damaged seal will lead to the premature failure of the joint.
4. Using the special tool, release the LH front lower arm from the wheel knuckle.

Remove the nut.
NOTE:
LH illustration shown, RH is similar.
5. Remove the LH front lower arm.

Remove and discard the nut and bolt.
