Remove both left and right-hand side interior E-post trim finishers.

3.

Remove both left and right-hand side plug fasteners securing rear edge of headliner to body.

4.

Carefully pull down rear edge of headliner and locate mounting points for requested bracket location (right, center, or left).

5.

Poke a pinhole through the headliner to locate center of mounting holes on body.

6.

Using the marked pinholes in the headliner, center a spacer from the tether bracket kit on each of the pinholes and trace the perimeter to outline the
size of holes to be cut.

7.

Carefully cut the holes in the headliner with a sharp knife.

8.

Verify the alignment of the cut holes in the headliner with the mounting holes in the body, and make the necessary adjustments.

WARNING:

To insure proper bolt retention, apply Loctite 242 to the threads of the bolt before installation.

CAUTION:

Exercise care in the following areas to ensure a professional installation:

Be careful not to soil upholstery during the installation.

Be careful not to cinch the headliner underneath the bracket mounting bolts during installation.

9.

Apply Loctite 242 to the threads of the bolt.

10.

Install tether bracket into vehicle, start the bolt and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lbf.ft.).

11.

Install tether bracket trim cover onto the bracket.

12.

Install all trim pieces, fasteners and tailgate aperture seal in reverse order of removal.
