Left hand drive vehicles without cruise control:

1)

Disconnect the drag link.

2)

Turn the steering fully onto right hand lock.

3)

The orientation of the steering wheel should now be in the straight ahead position, if not, remove the steering wheel (refer to the workshop manual,
section 57) whilst still on right hand lock and refit in the straight ahead position.

4)

Refit the steering wheel lock washer and securing nut and tighten to a torque of 36 Nm.

5)

Refit the drag link.

6)

Road test the vehicle.

Left hand drive vehicles with cruise control:

1)

Disconnect the drag link.

2)

Turn the steering fully onto right hand lock.

3)

If the steering wheel is not in the straight ahead position. initially mark the rim of the steering wheel with tape at the 12 o'clock position and then
turn the steering wheel two full turns towards left hand lock.

4)

Remove the steering wheel (Refer to cruise control cassette centralizing, on the following page) and refit in the straight ahead position.

5)

Refit the steering wheel lock washer and securing nut and tighten to a torque of 38 Nm. 

6)

Refit the drag link.

7)

Road test the vehicle.

NOTE: 

Vehicles at the latter end of the VIN range will have a revised steering box and drop arm assembly and adjustment is different to that previously
described and the following procedure should be followed:

Where a later steering box is fitted the drop arm has an 8 mm recess in the rear of the forging, use an 8 mm dowel rod to line the drop arm with the hole
in the rear of the steering box, the rod is to be locally manufactured (Refer to the illustration below). This facility allows the steering box to be set on
centre. Whilst the steering box is pegged with the dowel check to ensure the steering wheel is in the straight ahead position, should the steering wheel be
off centre remove and refit to the straight ahead position. Refit the lock washer and nut and tighten to 38 Nm.

NOTE: 

Under no circumstances should the vehicle be left unattended or driven with the dowel rod in place.

Remove the dowel rod from the rear of the steering box.

Road test the vehicle.

If the steering wheel alignment in the straight ahead position is incorrect when driven, DO NOT REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL, note the position
of the steering wheel, return to the workshop and adjust the drag link until the steering wheel is returned to on centre position.
