OVERHAUL

Later engines with modified ’one-piece’ starter
ring gear

1. Remove 4 bolts securing drive plate clamp

ring, remove clamp ring.

2. Remove drive plate.
3. Remove 6 Allen bolts securing starter ring gear

to crankshaft, remove ring gear.

Drive plate and ring gear - inspection

1. Inspect drive plate for cracks and distortion.
2. Renew drive plate if necessary.
3. Inspect ring gear for worn, chipped and broken

teeth.

4. Renew ring gear assembly if necessary.
