Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Testing and Inspection
On-Vehicle Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

a. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

1. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
2. Turn the intelligent tester main switch ON.
3. Set the vehicle to the "INSPECTION MODE".

b. Start and warm up the engine.
c. Idle the engine.

d. Select the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / VVT B1 or VVT B2 or VVT CTRL B1 or VVT CTRL

B2 or VVT EX B1 or VVT EX B2.

If the result is not as specified, check the oil control valve and wirings.

HINT:
-

VVT B1: Command to activate exhaust and intake side oil control valves of bank 1 (Control range: Between -128 to 127%).

VVT B2: Command to activate exhaust and intake side oil control valves of bank 2 (Control range: Between -128 to 127%).

VVT CTRL B1: Command to activate oil control valve of bank 1 (Control range: ON/OFF).

VVT CTRL B2: Command to activate oil control valve of bank 2 (Control range: ON/OFF).

VVT EX B1: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 1 (Control range: Between -128 to 127%).

VVT EX B2: Command to activate exhaust side oil control valve of bank 2 (Control range: Between -128 to 127%).
