About Lexus
Lexus is Toyota's luxury division, and its flagship LS has led the range since 1989. Every Lexus here has a Toyota relative, and most were sold as Toyotas in Japan.
Same car, different badge
- ES uses the Toyota Camry platform.
- RX began as the Toyota Harrier; its Toyota counterpart is the Highlander.
- LX is based on the Land Cruiser, and GX on the Land Cruiser Prado, built alongside the 4Runner.
- IS was the Toyota Altezza in Japan (1998–2005), and GS was the Toyota Aristo until 2005.
- SC (first generation) shared its body design and many parts with the Toyota Soarer.
Lexus engines use Toyota's engine codes; the Toyota page explains how to read them.
