About the 4Runner
The 4Runner, sold since 1984 and called the Hilux Surf in Japan, began as little more than a Hilux pickup with a fibreglass shell over the bed, and has since grown into a mid-size SUV. Its name was coined as a play on "forerunner". All 4Runners have been built in Japan, and it ranks among the longest-lasting vehicles in the US.
