About the RX
The RX went on sale in 1998, having been launched in Japan in late 1997 as the Toyota Harrier, and many sources consider it the first luxury crossover SUV. It was offered with front- or all-wheel drive, and the RX 400h of 2005 added a petrol-electric hybrid version. The name stands for "Radiant Crossover".
What these manuals cover
- 1999 (first generation): the RX 300's 3.0-litre V6 (1MZ-FE).
- 2004–2007 (second generation): the RX 330's 3.3-litre V6 (3MZ-FE), the RX 350's 3.5-litre V6 (2GR-FE) from 2007, and the RX 400h hybrid with the 3.3 V6.
- 2010–2011 (third generation): the RX 350's 3.5 V6 and the RX 450h hybrid (2GR-FXE).
Tip: the Toyota Highlander was built on the same platform and uses the same V6 engines (1MZ-FE, 3MZ-FE, 2GR-FE), including the hybrid versions.
