Steering Column Lock: Service Precautions

STEERING LOCK SYSTEM 

PRECAUTION 
(2006/02-2006/07)

1. NOTICE FOR INITIALIZATION:

NOTICE: 
When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the cable is reconnected.

2. PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK

(a)

After replacing the steering lock actuator, perform the code registration.

(b) If the steering lock actuator is replaced, open and close the driver's door. The engine may not start until either operation is performed.

HINT: 
Performing the above operation causes the steering lock actuator to memorize the correct steering lock bar position.

(c)

If checking for push button start function DTCs or checking the DATA LIST with the power switch OFF, make sure that the driver's door is
open.

HINT: 
When the power switch is OFF, the main body ECU RH to which the intelligent tester is to be connected may not be working.
Communication with the intelligent tester is impossible if the main body ECU RH is not working.
