Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal

2AZ-FXE ENGINE CONTROL: ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

2. DRAIN COOLANT (for Engine)   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair/Coolant (for Engine)

3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK

(a) Remove the front wiper motor and link    See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Removal.

4. REMOVE WATER GUARD PLATE RH   See: Brakes and Traction Control/Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake Booster/Service and

Repair/Removal

5. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL   See: Brakes and Traction Control/Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake

6. REMOVE COWL BODY MOUNTING REINFORCEMENT RH   See: Brakes and Traction Control/Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake

7. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Brakes and Traction Control/Power Brake Assist/Vacuum Brake

8. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal

9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Body/Service and Repair/Removal

10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal

11. SEPARATE ENGINE WIRE

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 ground cables.

(b) Disconnect the 4 connectors.

(c) Disconnect the connector clamp from the bracket.

12. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

(a) Using SST, remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gasket.
