(a) for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column:

(1) Disable the auto away/return function by changing the customize parameter    See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering

Column/Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning.

NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto away/return function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the
current setting after finishing this operation.

HINT
Performing the above operation disables the auto away/return function when the power switch is turned off.

(2) Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and upper the steering column assembly.

(b) Turn the power switch off.

(c) Open the front luggage compartment trim cover and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY   See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Lower Instrument Panel/Removal

5. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:
When storing the driver side knee airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts.

(d) Disengage the 7 claws and 2 guides to separate the driver side knee airbag assembly.
