Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal

BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing    See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

NOTICE:
When reconnecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal after installing the steering sensor, check that the front tires and
steering wheel are kept aligned straight ahead before and after connecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER   See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD   See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering

Pad/Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY   See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/Removal

8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side)   See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal

9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side)   See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal

10. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR   See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring

Assembly / Spiral Cable/Service and Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
