A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT LEVER: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION

(a) When moving the shift lever from P to R with the engine switch on (IG) and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves

smoothly and correctly into the position.

(b) Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when from N to D and moves rearward when moving it to R.

If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the park/neutral position switch assembly and check the shift lever assembly installation
condition.

Shift Paddle Switch

A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH

(a) Disconnect the switch wire connector from the shift paddle switch.

(b) Measure the resistance between each terminal when the paddle shift is moved to each position.

Standard Resistance:

If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the shift paddle switch.
