Compression Check: Testing and Inspection

COMPRESSION

INSPECT COMPRESSION

(a)

Warm up and stop the engine.

HINT:  A warmed up engine should have an engine coolant temperature of over 80°C (176°F) and an engine oil temperature of 60°C (140°
F), and the engine rpm should be stabilized.

(b) Remove the V-bank cover.
(c)

Remove the 5 clips and air cleaner inlet cover.

(d) Remove the 8 clips and 2 engine room side covers.
(e)

Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 air cleaner inlet.

(f)

Remove the 4 nuts and 2 air cleaner assemblies.

(g) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
(h) Remove the battery and tray.

(i)

Remove the 3 bolts and skid control ECU.

(j)

Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and skid control ECU bracket.

(k) Disconnect the 8 ignition coil connectors.
