SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the connector.
NOTE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(b) Install the front passenger side knee airbag with the 3 bolts attach the claw.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL
(a) Attach the 1 clips and the 2 claws to install the panel.
3. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /
Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Installation
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and
Repair/Installation
5. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument
Panel/Service and Repair/Installation
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.
NOTE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
8. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
(a) Check the SRS warning light See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.

DISPOSAL
HINT: When scrapping a vehicle equipped with the SRS or disposing of the rear seat side airbag, be sure to deploy the airbag first in
accordance with the procedure described below. If any abnormality occurs with the airbag deployment, contact the SERVICE DEPT. of
TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC.
CAUTION:

Never dispose of a rear seat side airbag that has an unactivated airbag.

The airbag produces an exploding sound when it is deployed, so perform the operation outdoors and where it will not create a
nuisance to nearby residents.

When deploying the airbag, always use the specified SST (SRS Airbag Deployment Tool). Perform the in a place away from
electrical noise.
