Parking Brake Actuator: Service and Repair
Removal

PARKING BRAKE: ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. RELEASE PARKING BRAKE

(a) With the power switch ON (IG), operate the electric parking brake switch to release the parking brake. Then turn the power switch OFF.

HINT: If the parking brake cannot be released, use the luggage compartment's parking brake release tool to manually release the parking
brake.

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

3. REMOVE TOOL BOX
4. REMOVE SPARE TIRE
5. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH See: Starting and Charging/Battery

6. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER 

7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat
belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
-

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected  See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.

After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory
and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-)
battery terminal.

9. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal

10. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP See: Hybrid Drive Systems/Battery System, Hybrid Drive/Hybrid Battery Service Switch/Service and

Repair/Removal

11. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
12. REMOVE ROPE HOOK 

13. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY 

14. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD RH 

15. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY 

16. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER COVER (w/ Rear Cooler) See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Housing Assembly HVAC/Service and Repair/Air

Conditioning Unit (for Rear Side)/Removal

17. REMOVE FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER 

18. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE 

19. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY LH 

20. REMOVE SEAT VIBRATOR MODULE (for Ottoman) See: Body and Frame/Seats/Power Seat Motor/Service and Repair/Seat Vibrator Module

Assembly (for Ottoman)/Removal

21. DISCONNECT ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR CONNECTOR
