SUSPENSION: REAR UPPER ARM: INSPECTION
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
(b) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Standard turning torque:
3.5 N*m (36 kgf*cm, 31 in.*lbf) or less

If the value is not within the specified range, replace the No. 1 control arm with a new one.
(c) Check the dust boot for cracks and grease leakage.
2. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
(b) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Standard turning torque:
9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) or less

If the value is not within the specified range, replace the No. 2 control arm with a new one.
(c) Check the dust boot for cracks and grease leakage.

1. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT LOOSENESS
(a) Jack up the vehicle.
