Inspection

SUSPENSION: REAR LOWER ARM: INSPECTION

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
(b) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the fifth turn.

Standard turning torque:
5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) or less

If the value is not within the specified range, replace the No. 1 suspension arm with a new one.

(c) Check the dust boot for cracks and grease leakage.

On-Vehicle Inspection

SUSPENSION: REAR LOWER ARM: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT LOOSENESS

(a) Jack up the vehicle.
(b) Shake the suspension arm by hand and check for looseness.

OK:
No looseness is felt
