1.

Remove the counter gear speed sensor and "O"-ring.

2.

Clean the surfaces of the retaining bolt and the bolt hole.

CAUTION:

Use protective eye-wear when spraying solvents and compressed air.

A.

Blow compressed air into the bolt hole to remove automatic transmission fluid.

B.

Clean the bolt hole by spraying a spray cleaner (brake cleaner, etc.) into the hole.

C.

Clean the bolt threads with a wire brush, then use a spray cleaner to remove debris.

D.

Repeat the above steps (A through C) 2 to 3 times.

3.

Install the speed sensor.

A.

Coat the "o"-ring with automatic transmission fluid and install it on the sensor.

B.

Lightly apply 1344 sealer (P/N 08833-00080) to the bolt threads and the bolt hole on the transaxle case, as shown.

4.

Install the speed sensor with the retaining bolt.

Torque: 11.3 Nm (115 kgf cm, 8 ft)

5.

Let the vehicle sit for at least 30 minutes without running the engine.

6.

Start and run the vehicle for several minutes. Check for automatic transmission fluid leakage around the bolt hole.
