9. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT SNAP RING

(a) Install a new rear drive shaft snap ring.

10. INSPECT REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY   See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Rear Drive Shaft

Assembly (for TMC Made)

Up to 08/2009

DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made): INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the shaft splines and install the rear drive shaft assembly with a brass bar and a hammer.

NOTICE:
*

Set the snap ring with the opening facing downward.

*

Be careful not to damage the oil seal, boot or dust cover.

*

Install the rear drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.

2. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL   See: Differential Assembly/Seals and Gaskets/Service and Repair/Rear Differential Side Gear Shaft Oil

Seal/Replacement

3. INSPECT DIFFERENTIAL OIL   See: Differential Assembly/Fluid - Differential/Service and Repair

4. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL INSPECTION PLUG   See: Differential Assembly/Fluid - Differential/Service and Repair

5. INSPECT FOR DIFFERENTIAL OIL LEAK

6. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY
