Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
Removal
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR: REMOVAL
NOTICE:
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)
NOTICE:
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the
cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
2. PRECAUTION

3. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization.
5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and

6. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and

7. REMOVE STEERING PAD See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Steering
Pad/Removal
8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/Removal
9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Removal
10. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
(a) Remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable/Service
and Repair/Removal.
NOTICE:
*
Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
*
Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).
*
Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.
*
Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
