Cylinder Head Gasket: Service and Repair
CYLINDER HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT [LF, L5]

Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Before Service Precaution
1. Remove the timing chain. See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and Repair
2. Remove the generator, but do not remove it from the vehicle. Fix the generator using a rope to prevent it from falling. (L5) See: Starting and

3. Remove the exhaust manifold. See: Exhaust System/Service and Repair
4. Remove the intake manifold. See: Intake Manifold/Service and Repair
5. Drain the engine coolant. See: Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair
6. Disconnect the upper radiator hose. See: Cooling System/Radiator/Service and Repair
7. Disconnect the water hose. See: Cooling System/Thermostat/Service and Repair
8. Disconnect the heater hose. See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Evaporator Core/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement
9. Disconnect the wiring harness.
10. To firmly support the engine, first set the engine jack to the oil pan.
11. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
