Start / Stop Switch: Testing and Inspection
PUSH BUTTON START INSPECTION [WITH ADVANCED KEYLESS ENTRY AND PUSH BUTTON START SYSTEM]
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the following parts:
a. Front scuff plate (Driver-side) See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Front Scuff Plate

b. Front side trim (Driver-side) See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Front Side Trim

c. Upper panel See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Upper Panel Removal/Installation
d. Shift knob (MTX) See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Shifter M/T/Service and Repair
e. Selector lever knob (ATX) See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Shifter A/T/Service and Repair/Automatic
Transaxle Shift Mechanism Removal/Installation
f.
Shift panel See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Shift Panel Removal/Installation
g. Side wall See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Side
Wall Removal/Installation
h. Console See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Console/Service and Repair/Console Removal/Installation
3. Set the hood release lever out of the way. See: Body and Frame/Doors, Hood and Trunk/Hood/Hood Latch Release/Service and Repair
4. Partially peel back the seaming welt.
5. Remove the lower panel. See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Lower Panel Removal/Installation
6. Remove the push button start. See: Service and Repair
7. Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.

If not as indicated in the table, replace the push button start.
8. Apply battery positive voltage and connect the ground to the push button start terminals and verify that the LED illuminates.
-
If the LEDs does not illuminate, replace the push button start.
