3 Wire Pick-up Coil

1.

Disconnect a spark plug wire from a spark plug and check for spark.

2.

If no spark occurs reconnect the spark plug wire.

3.

Remove the coil wire from the distributor cap and again check for spark.

4.

If spark occurred in step # 3 check distributor rotor and distributor cap for breakage, carbon tracking, or miss matched parts.

5.

If no spark occurred check for battery voltage at the positive (+) coil terminal with ignition switch in the ON position.

6.

If battery voltage is not present, check wiring, connections, and ignition switch for an interrupted voltage supply.  Repair as necessary and recheck
system for spark.

7.

If battery voltage was present in step # 5, check for voltage at negative (-) coil terminal with ignition switch in the crank position.

8.

If voltage at (-) coil terminal was approx. 6 volts, replace pick-up coil / igniter assembly.

9.

If voltage at (-) coil terminal was extremely low or non existant replace ignition coil.
