Instruments - Fuel Gauge Won't Read Full After Refueling
Bulletin No.: 09-044/09
Last Issue: 08/07/2009
Subject:
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT INDICATE FULL JUST AFTER REFUELING
APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS
2009 MAZDA6
DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles, the fuel gauge does not indicate full (F) after refueling. This is especially true when only a small amount of fuel is added to the fuel
tank while the fuel gauge is near "F".
When the fuel tank is nearly full, the fuel gauge specification is designed so that if a small amount of fuel is added (less than 1.3 gallons), it does not
register.

Repair Procedure
When you encounter a customer complaint for this concern, please advise them to always try and fill the tank with more than 1.3 gallons of fuel so this
symptom can be avoided. For customers who still complain, the configuration of instrumental cluster can be changed with M-MDS according to the
following "Configuration Change Procedure".
NOTE:
Before changing the configuration, please explain to the customer that this change may cause an incorrect fuel gauge indication when the vehicle is
parked on a slope for a long period of time.
Configuration Change Procedure:
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Contact the Technical Hotline to obtain the vehicle's As-Built data.
