Confirm that the coupler is connected firmly to the sensor by slightly pulling and pushing it.

Fill out the recall label with the dealer code and the repair date, and affix it on the passenger side's B pillar.

1986 626 Throttle Sensor Recall Campaign [Recall No. 19604]

Owner Letter (Draft)

Dear Customer:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirement of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act Mazda Motor Corporation has
determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in the throttle sensor on some of the 1986 Mazda 626 models within the
following VIN ranges.

In cold weather, the rotor of the throttle sensor might stick to the bushing causing an insufficient return of the throttle valve. If the above condition
should occur, the engine speed may not decrease to idle speed when the accelerator pedal is released just after starting the vehicle. However, if sticking
were to occur while the vehicle is being driven, it is possible that the vehicle will not slow down after the accelerator pedal has been released. Should this
happen, the clutch should be immediately depressed (in the case of manual transmissions) or the transmission should be immediately shifted into the
"neutral" setting (in the case of automatic transmissions) and the foot brake should be applied to bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Once stopped, the
ignition should be turned off.

We are now making arrangements for you to have your throttle sensor replaced at an authorized Mazda dealer free of charge on and after April 18, 1986.

It will only take less than half an hour to complete the repair. However, we recommend you to call your dealer to ask if an appointment is necessary so
that any inconvenience will be minimized.

If you no longer own your 1986 626, please complete the enclosed Change of Ownership pre-paid postcard and mail it to us as soon as possible.

Any problems encountered in this recall campaign should be discussed with your nearest authorized Mazda dealer or Mazda distributor listed in your
Owner's Manual. If your dealer or distributor fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge within reasonable time, you may wish to notify the
Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Washington D.C. 20590, or call the hot-line telephone number (800) 424-9393. For
