Thermal Vacuum Valve: Testing and Inspection

Disconnect vacuum hose between water thermo valve and vacuum amplifier at water thermo valve, see Fig. 1.

2.

Start engine and run at 1500 RPM.

3.

Ensure no vacuum is present at disconnected hose.

4.

Warm up engine until coolant temperature is 83° to 161° F, and ensure vacuum is present at disconnected hose.

5.

If test results are unsatisfactory, replace water thermo valve.
