Vacuum Amplifier: Testing and Inspection

1.

Remove air cleaner.

2.

Disconnect vacuum hose between vacuum amplifier and No. 2 EGR valve at No. 2 EGR valve and connect vacuum gauge to hose.

3.

Run engine at idle, then disconnect vacuum hose between carburetor and vacuum amplifier at carburetor, and ensure vacuum gauge reads 1.6 to
2.4 inches Hg.

4.

Connect vacuum hose to carburetor.

5.

Gradually increase engine speed to 3500 RPM and ensure vacuum gauge reads approximately 3.6 inches Hg.

6.

If test results are unsatisfactory, replace vacuum amplifier.
