DESCRIPTION
If a 1988 626 or MX-6 experiences rubbing (growl) noise from the steering intermediate shaft when the steering wheel is turned, the cause may be dry
contact between the steering intermediate shaft and the dust boot.
COUNTERMEASURE
Apply about 2 g (0.07 ounce) lithium base grease to the intermediate shaft and dust boot located under the dash. Please use a spray type grease to apply
the grease to the contact area of the dust boot.
It is recommended that the above work be carried out on all vehicles at P.D.I. or any service.
To avoid duplicate repairs, apply white paint to the intermediate shaft as shown to indicate that the repair has been completed. If a white mark is found, it
is not necessary to make this repair.
