Disconnect trailing and lateral links at knuckle spindle.
5.
Remove knuckle spindle to shock absorber mounting bolts and the knuckle spindle.
6.
Using suitable tools, remove bearing assembly from brake drum.
7.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque nuts and bolts as follows: brake pipe, 9-16 ft.lbs.; knuckle spindle to shock absorber, 69-86 ft.lbs.; trailing and lateral links to knuckle
spindle, 64-86 ft.lbs.; backing plate to knuckle spindle, 33-44 ft.lbs.; parking brake cable, 12-17 ft.lbs.; brake drum locknut, 73-131 ft.lbs.
b. Check wheel bearing endplay as follows: Position dial indicator against hub cap, then push and pull brake drum by hand in axial direction and
measure endplay. If endplay exceeds .0079 inch (2 mm), replace wheel bearing.
c. Torque lug nuts to 65-87 ft.lbs.
W/DISC BRAKES & 2 WHEEL STEERING
1.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove hub cap, and locknut.
