Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair

Remove axle hub in numerical sequence, Fig. 12, noting the following:
a. Uncrimp tab of locknut.
b. Remove caliper assembly, leaving hose attached, and suspend out of way.
c. Use tool 490118850C or equivalent to disconnect tie rod end.

Disassemble axle hub in numerical sequence, Fig 13, noting the following:
a. Use tool 49G033102, 49G033104 and 49G033106, or equivalents, to press off front wheel hub.
b. If bearing inner race remains on front wheel hub, grind a section of bearing inner race to approximately .0197 inch (.5 mm), then remove with
chisel.
c. Using tools mentioned in step a, press out front wheel bearing.

Check knuckle for cracks or damage, replacing as necessary.
4.
Check front wheel hub for seizure, cracks or damage, replacing as necessary.
5.
Check dust cover for cracks or damage, replacing as necessary.
