DESCRIPTION
A metallic pinging noise may be heard when releasing the foot brake in stop and go traffic or engaging reverse or drive while maneuvering to park. The
noise is most evident after continuous driving of more than 30 miles.
The noise is caused by lubrication breakdown in the propeller shaft center support bearing. A new bearing is available to correct this condition.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
If the metallic pinging noise is heard, replace the center support bearing with the new part. Removal and installation procedures are outlined in Section L
of the applicable Workshop Manual.
