Wheel Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Rear Wheel Speed Sensor & Rotor

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, wheel lug nuts, then the wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Remove hub nut and washer from end of driveshaft, Fig. 88.

3.

Remove transaxle to driveshaft retaining nuts and washers, then slide the driveshaft from rear of rotor and vehicle.

4.

Remove bolts retaining speed sensor to hub, then the sensor.

5.

Remove sensor rotor from driveshaft using a chisel.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Press sensor rotor onto driveshaft using the SST.
b. Torque speed sensor attaching bolts to 12-17 ft. lbs.
c. Torque transaxle to driveshaft retaining nuts to 40-47 ft. lbs.
d. Torque hub nut to 174-231 ft. lbs.
