Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Deactivation Procedure
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Wait one minute. This is the time required for backup power supply in the air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
4. Remove driver side air bag module from vehicle.
Warning : Place air bag module on bench with trim cover facing up.
5. Attach Driver Air Bag Simulator 49-UNO1-131 to air bag sliding contact connector in place of the air bag module at the top of the steering
column.
6. Remove passenger side air bag module from vehicle.
7. Attach Passenger Air Bag Simulator 49-UNOl-iSO to passenger air bag connector in place of the air bag module above the glove compartment.
8. Reconnect the positive battery cable.
9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Reactivation Procedure
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Wait one minute. This is the time required for backup power supply in the air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
4. Remove Driver Air Bag Simulator 49-UNO1-131 from air bag sliding contact connector (driver side).

Install driver side air bag module.
Tightening Torque
11 - 13 Nm (1.1 - 1.3 kg fm/9O-122 in. lb.)
6. Remove Passenger Air Bag Simulator 49-UNOl-iSO from main wiring harness.
7. Install passenger side air bag module.
Tightening Torque
11 - 13 Nm (1.1 - 1.3 kg fm/9O-122 in. lb.)
8. Reconnect positive battery cable.
9. Reconnect negative battery cable.
10. Prove out air bag system. Turn ignition to the ON position and observe the air bag indicator lamp. The lamp should turn on for 6 to 8 seconds, turn
ofl and remain off. Any faults in the system will cause the indicator to flash within 30 seconds after it goes out following the 6 to 8 second prove
out period.
